It brings me so much joy when I see my friend Derek’s Instagram. This year he was in the Springfield parade riding as his alter-ego-Batman. Derek is an everyday guy that touches so many hearts because he shows up with so much heart. I hope his story will connect you to your dharma, getting creative on giving, and spreading love. No small act goes un-noticed, especially in a time when there seems to have so many nasty people.
My friend Derek loves Batman, actually a little obsessed about it. Last year he decided he would visit kids in the hospital as Batman. The kids and hospital staff love it. It brings the kids HOPE and happiness. It started out where he did it once a week for a couple of hours.
Last year he got the key to the city of Springfield. This is the first time in 5 years! He’s just an ordinary guy who manages an apartment complex. He’s a hero to these kids and me.
